On January 10th, LCA hosted its 2nd Annual Scripps Spelling Bee. It was extremely encouraging to witness the excitement of each grade level’s top two spellers, as they pitted their talents before an audience of impressed on-lookers.

Cameron Trowbridge (2nd grade) and Shariah Atkins (3rd grade) held the audience captive - in round after round - which finally determined Cameron to be the 1st-4th grade winner.  

Maame Adu (5th grade) narrowly edged out Moriah Jones (6th grade) to be crowned LCA’s 2012 Scripps Spelling Bee Champion. Maame was awarded a gold medal, a trophy, and subscriptions to Encyclopedia Britannica and PowerSpeak12 (a national public speaking journal). She was also invited to take part in the On-line Scripps Semi-finals.
