LCA Lunch Program
We are very pleased to announce some exciting new changes to our lunch program for the 2011-2012 school year at Liberty Christian Academy. We have heard your suggestions, and it is our goal to change our menu so we can promote a more healthy lifestyle at school and at home. It is also our goal to educate our students on how important diet and exercise are for a healthy lifestyle.
Some of the changes you can look forward to are less processed foods. While some of the menu items may seem the same, we are no longer using canned meats for any of our meals. We will be using fresh lean meat for our Homemade Sloppy Joes, Fresh Meatballs, Chili, and Tacos. We are replacing the breads and some of the pasta we use with whole grain, and whole wheat. We are also trying to incorporate more fresh vegetables and fruits into the menu. Most of our desserts will be homemade at school. These are just some of the changes to our menu for the new school year.
We will also have an a la carte menu for our middle school and high school lunch period. This menu will change daily based on what is available to our students, but we are really excited to serve the older students by offering them more variety. They will have healthy choices to choose from daily. We even look forward to the possibility of a soup and salad bar sometime in the future! For the first time this year we will also make available sack lunches for field trips. This will be an option for those parents who would rather buy on these days instead of packing their child's lunch.
We want to make lunch period an exciting time for your children. We want it to be a part of their day they look forward to. Our revised menu is a work in progress, and we will continue to make changes toward improvements as the year goes on. We are always open to any suggestions parents and students have for our lunch program, so please feel free to contact us at any time. We look forward to hearing from you!
