| Liberty Christian Academy SCHOOL PROFILE MISSION STATEMENT: The mission of Liberty Christian Academy is to provide a quality Christian education in a Christ-centered environment in order to reach students for Christ and equip them to serve God and impact the world through biblical thought and action. SCHOOL HISTORY: In the summer of 1982, a group of Christians from the city of Columbus headed by H. David McIlrath, gathered and agreed to the need of an independent, nondenominational Christian school in the city. A vacated building was leased and the doors were opened with 135 students in attendance. In 1987 a former Columbus elementary school building was purchased and currently houses preschool through 12th grade. After leasing additional space from area churches, God has continued to bless by providing a new construction, LCA-East, which opened in the fall of 2008 for preschool through high school. We now have an enrollment of over 700 students at two campuses. ACCREDITATION and AFFILIATION: Liberty Christian Academy is fully chartered with the State of Ohio. It is a member of ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International). FACULTY: All of our instructors are born-again Christians with a bachelor or advanced degree. They are dedicated to serving the Lord through the ministry of teaching young people. A State of Ohio Department of Education teaching certificate or license is required of all teachers. ACADEMIC PROGRAM: Liberty Christian Academy uses ABeka and Bob Jones curriculum and provides a challenging instructional program for students in preschool through high school in a structured, loving environment. Our program is geared to the average and above average student. The younger grades utilize a strong phonics-based reading program. The secondary program is college preparatory. Our students are challenged to strive for excellence. Each year the Stanford Achievement Tests are given. Average scores are well above national norms. LCA meets all graduation requirements of the Ohio Department of Education. ATHLETICS: We offer an athletic program in grades 7-12 for boys and girls. Students may participate in a variety of sports including volleyball, soccer and basketball.
